CNC Prototype and Short-Run Part Cutting

EZCNC supports one-off prototypes and short production runs when the part can be represented as supported 2D sheet-material geometry. The same guided process is used for a single trial part and later repeat quantities.

A clear path from design to production

    Start with one controlled design

    Upload the exact DXF version to be quoted and confirm its units and finished dimensions before selecting production choices.

    Make operations explicit

    Use the machining map to identify supported through cuts, holes, pockets and engraving rather than relying on unexplained drawing conventions.

  3. 3

    Price the intended quantity

    The one-part production price is multiplied by quantity and the configured volume discount is applied where applicable.

  4. 4

    Revise with traceability

    When the CAD changes, upload the revised design as a new quoted part so geometry, selections and pricing stay connected to that revision.

Can I order only one prototype part?

Yes. The guided quote supports a quantity of one, subject to the configured minimum production subtotal and any manual-review requirements.

Does changing quantity change the production price?

Yes. Quantity multiplies the one-part production price, after which the configured quantity discount is applied. It does not silently substitute full-sheet pricing.

What happens if the prototype requires an unsupported feature?

The file can be submitted for EZCNC review. A staff member can clarify the requirement before the work proceeds rather than allowing an unreliable automatic quote.
